Therapy for Women With Cancer

in LA and throughout CA as well as Miami and throughout FL

Cancer is a scary diagnosis; you don’t have to go through it alone.

You go to the doctor’s office - maybe you had something you thought was off, or maybe not - but the next thing you know, you’re hearing one of those dreaded words: “biopsy” or “scans.”

You’re anxious, scared, praying, and pleading that it’s nothing, waiting agonizingly long to hear the news. When you get that horrible call from the doctor, your world starts spinning, and you feel like your life’s been turned upside down…

It’s cancer.

Your mind starts racing with all the fears and concerns you have for how this will impact your life... Will you even still have a life?

A cancer diagnosis impacts you and everything in your life.

How will you work through treatment?  How will I tell my loved one? What will happen to me? Will I survive?  If I do, what will I look like?  How do I define myself as a woman if I don’t have breasts or a uterus?

The questions feel endless and overwhelming.

Or maybe you’re supporting a loved one going through a cancer journey.

You feel like you want to be there for them, but what about your own feelings? You don’t want to burden them with your own fears, but you also need support.

How I can help with counseling for cancer

It’s possible to have someone to walk through this journey with you.

You can have someone who you can tell all of your fears and questions to.  You can have someone who understands that while you’re grateful for a treatment, you’re also angry that this is happening. It would feel like a relief. It would feel like someone understood you enough to really support you. You can have someone who can be with you while you cry, giving you one place where you don't have to look strong for those around you.

Having been both a patient and a caregiver, I have a unique understanding of what you or your loved one is going through.

We’ll get through this together. In therapy, you’ll have a place to talk about all that you’re going through, all the fear and all the hope. You won’t feel like you’re burdening your friends and family. You’ll have a place just for you. We’ll celebrate your wins or cry if you get bad news, whatever you need. And when you get through it all, I’ll help you design your new life

Imagine if you…

Had the emotional support you needed through all phases of your cancer journey.

A cancer journey can be a long, scary, lonely road. You’re physically and emotionally exhausted. You’re trying hard to keep it together for your loved ones or at work. You’re trying to do all the things you used to do, but at some point, you can’t.

Therapy will give you the space you need to be who you are at that moment, not who you think you need to be or who others need you to be. You’ll get the support you need to cry, be angry, be scared, be hopeful, be grateful… All the things you feel at different times.

Learned ways to cope with the anxiety, depression, or fear.

In therapy, we’ll focus on coping skills to help you deal with all your feelings. We can also use EMDR Therapy to help you deal with the trauma of the experience or the anxiety of upcoming procedures, the “Scanxiety” that you might be feeling.

Could create a New Normal for your life during and after cancer.

Many things will stay the same during your cancer journey, but many won’t. Together, we’ll help you create and accept the New Normal whether it’s temporary or permanent.

We’ll help you process and grieve what you’re losing to cancer. And we’ll help you redesign your life after treatment so that you can find the joy in life.

I want you to know:

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Let’s get you the support you need now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about therapy for cancer patients and their caregivers.

  • Having been both a patient and a caregiver, I bring a unique perspective and understanding to this field, which makes my passion and dedication to this area extra special to me.

I also have the clinical skills to use EMDR Therapy as well as Psychodynamic Therapy and Parts Work to help you process everything you’re going through throughout this journey.

  • Very often women going through cancer treatment, or survivors going through follow up treatment get anxiety related to having to undergo another scan. EMDR can help decrease the anticipatory anxiety that you experience by helping your brain reprocess how it reacts to the future event of having another scan.

  • In our work together we’ll explore the concept of a “New Normal”. After having gone through a life changing event, your life IS different. It will never be exactly the same as it was, and together, we’ll help you shape the new life that you have to be the life that you want.
