Disclaimer

  • This disclaimer outlines important information about the nature and limitations of the content on my website and the online therapy services I provide. By accessing this website or engaging my services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms outlined in this disclaimer. I encourage you to read this document carefully alongside my Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for a complete understanding of your rights and responsibilities.

As a licensed therapist operating a solo practice, I am committed to providing accurate, helpful information through my website while being transparent about the limitations inherent in online content and telehealth services. This disclaimer is designed to set appropriate expectations and ensure you can make informed decisions about your mental health care.

  • I am a licensed mental health professional authorized to provide therapy services to clients located in California and Florida. My practice operates within the scope of my professional licensing, training, and areas of specialization. The therapeutic services I offer, including EMDR therapy, Polyvagal-informed approaches, and Psychodynamic therapy, fall within my professional competencies and continuing education.

My scope of practice is limited to the services described on my website. I specialize in working with women ages 30 to 50s who are navigating developmental trauma, childhood family dynamics, grief and loss, and cancer-related emotional challenges. I also offer mother-daughter therapy and cancer counseling services. If your needs fall outside my areas of expertise or licensing, I will do my best to provide appropriate referrals to other qualified professionals.

Due to state licensing regulations, I can only provide therapy services to clients who are physically located in California or Florida at the time of our sessions. If you relocate to a state where I am not licensed during the course of treatment, we will need to discuss options for continuing your care with an appropriately licensed provider in your new location.

  • The articles, blog posts, resources, and general information provided on this website are intended for educational and informational purposes only. This content is designed to provide general knowledge about mental health topics, therapeutic approaches, and emotional wellness, but it should not be considered a substitute for professional therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment.

The educational content on my website reflects my professional knowledge, clinical experience, and understanding of current research as of the date of publication. Mental health is a continually evolving field, and information that was accurate at the time of writing may become outdated as new research emerges. I make reasonable efforts to keep my content current, but I cannot guarantee that all information reflects the most recent developments in the field.

Every individual's mental health situation is unique, and the general information provided on this website may not be applicable to your specific circumstances. Reading educational content does not create a therapist-client relationship, and you should not rely solely on this information when making decisions about your mental health care. Always consult with a qualified mental health professional who can assess your individual needs before making treatment decisions.

  • While I am deeply committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy and have helped many clients achieve meaningful progress in their healing journeys, I cannot and do not guarantee specific results or outcomes from therapy. The effectiveness of therapy depends on numerous factors, many of which are beyond my control.

Factors that influence therapeutic outcomes include your individual history, circumstances, and the complexity of your concerns; your level of engagement, openness, and commitment to the therapeutic process; the consistency of your attendance and participation in sessions; your willingness to practice skills and implement insights between sessions; external life circumstances that may support or hinder your progress; and the unique nature of your therapeutic goals and what success means to you.

Therapy is a collaborative process that requires active participation from both the therapist and the client. While I bring professional expertise, evidence-based techniques, and genuine care to our work together, your investment in the process is equally essential. Progress in therapy is often non-linear, and healing takes time. Some clients experience significant improvement relatively quickly, while others may need more extended treatment to achieve their goals.

  • Online therapy, also known as telehealth or teletherapy, offers many benefits including convenience, accessibility, and the ability to receive care from the comfort of your own space. However, it is important to understand that online therapy has certain limitations compared to traditional in-person treatment.

Technology-related limitations may occasionally impact our sessions. Internet connectivity issues, software glitches, or hardware problems can disrupt the flow of a session or affect audio and video quality. While I use reliable, secure platforms and take steps to minimize technical difficulties, these issues are sometimes unavoidable. In such cases, we will work together to reschedule or find alternative solutions.

Online therapy may not be appropriate for everyone or every situation. The effectiveness of telehealth can be influenced by your comfort level with technology, your ability to find a private space for sessions, and the nature of your therapeutic needs. During our initial consultation, we will discuss whether online therapy is a good fit for your specific situation and needs.

Certain therapeutic techniques may be adapted for the online format. While I am trained in providing EMDR therapy and other modalities via telehealth and have found them to be highly effective in this format, the delivery may differ slightly from in-person sessions. I will explain any adaptations and ensure you understand how we will work together in the online environment.

  • When participating in online therapy sessions, you are responsible for ensuring that you have a private, confidential space where you can speak freely without being overheard. The effectiveness of therapy depends in part on your ability to engage openly and honestly, which requires an environment where you feel safe and private.

I cannot control or guarantee the privacy of your physical environment during sessions. It is your responsibility to ensure that family members, roommates, coworkers, or others cannot overhear our conversations. If privacy concerns arise during a session, please let me know so we can address them appropriately, which may include rescheduling to a time when you can secure a more private space.

You are also responsible for ensuring that your device is secure and that others do not have access to any session recordings, notes, or communications related to your therapy. I recommend using password protection on your devices, logging out of telehealth platforms when not in use, and being mindful of where you access therapy-related communications.

  • Any communication that occurs outside of scheduled therapy sessions, including emails, text messages, or contact form submissions, should not be considered a substitute for therapy. These communications are intended for administrative purposes such as scheduling, brief questions, or sharing relevant information between sessions.

I make reasonable efforts to respond to messages in a timely manner, typically within one to two business days. However, I am not able to monitor messages continuously, and there may be delays in my response due to sessions, personal time, or other professional obligations. You should not rely on these communication methods for time-sensitive matters or situations requiring immediate attention.

Written communications such as email and text are inherently less secure than our encrypted video sessions. While I take precautions to protect the confidentiality of all communications, you should be aware that electronic communications carry some inherent risks. Please use discretion when deciding what information to share through these channels.

  • I strive to ensure that all information on my website is accurate, current, and helpful. However, despite my best efforts, errors or omissions may occasionally occur. I make no representations or warranties about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or suitability of the information contained on this website.

Information about my services, approach, and availability may change over time. While I update my website regularly, there may be instances where the most current information has not yet been reflected online. If you have questions about any information on my website, please contact me directly for confirmation.

Any reliance you place on information from this website is at your own risk. I encourage you to verify important details during our consultation or through direct communication before making decisions based on website content.

  • The views, opinions, and therapeutic perspectives expressed on this website and during our work together represent my professional judgment based on my training, experience, and understanding of the field. These perspectives may differ from those held by other mental health professionals, and the existence of differing opinions is normal within any professional field.

My therapeutic approach is informed by EMDR, Polyvagal theory, and Psychodynamic principles, among other influences. While these approaches are well-established and supported by research, they represent particular perspectives within the broader field of mental health. Other valid therapeutic approaches exist, and what works best varies from person to person.

I encourage you to be an active participant in your care, including asking questions, expressing concerns, and providing feedback about our work together. If at any point you feel that my approach is not meeting your needs, I am open to discussing your concerns and, if appropriate, helping you find a therapist whose approach may be a better fit.

  • Therapy is one component of overall health and wellness, and I encourage clients to maintain relationships with other healthcare providers as appropriate. If you are working with a physician, psychiatrist, or other healthcare professional, therapy can often complement and enhance the care you receive from these providers.

I am not a medical doctor and do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The services I provide are therapeutic in nature and focus on emotional and psychological well-being. Any information I provide about the mind-body connection, the physiological aspects of trauma, or related topics is educational in nature and should not be construed as medical advice.

If you have questions or concerns about medical issues, including how physical health may be affecting your emotional well-being, I encourage you to consult with your physician or another qualified medical professional. With your consent, I am happy to coordinate with other members of your healthcare team to provide integrated, holistic care.

  • While I do not publish testimonials on my website, you may encounter general descriptions of therapeutic work or the types of progress clients have experienced. Any such descriptions are intended to illustrate the therapeutic process or potential benefits of treatment and should not be interpreted as promises of specific outcomes.

Every client's experience is unique, and results vary widely based on individual factors. The progress described in any general examples may not be representative of what you will experience in therapy. Your journey will be shaped by your own history, circumstances, goals, and engagement in the therapeutic process.

  • From time to time, I may recommend books, articles, websites, apps, or other external resources that I believe may be helpful to you. These recommendations are provided in good faith based on my professional judgment, but I do not endorse, control, or guarantee the quality, accuracy, or suitability of external resources.

If I provide a referral to another professional or service, such a referral is made in good faith based on my understanding of your needs and the other party's qualifications. However, I cannot guarantee the quality of services provided by others, and you are responsible for evaluating whether any referred professional or service meets your needs.

You should independently evaluate any external resources or referrals before relying on them. I am not responsible for your experiences with external resources, other professionals, or third-party services, even if I recommended them.

  • My services, availability, and practice policies may change over time. I reserve the right to modify the services I offer, adjust my scheduling availability, update my fees, or make other changes to my practice as needed. When possible, I will provide advance notice of significant changes that may affect current clients.

There may be times when I am unavailable due to vacation, illness, professional development, or other reasons. I will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned absences and to ensure continuity of care during any extended periods of unavailability.
